A plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals were introduced by the UN, and adopted by all UN member states, in 2015. The collective aim of the goals is to end universal poverty, protect the planet and improve everyone’s lives, regardless of where they live.

Sustainable Development Goals

Part of a strategic 15 year plan, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals form a key component of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In signing up to this universal plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity, UN member states pledged to collaboratively achieve the 17 goals by 2030.

By focussing on environmental sustainability, human rights, gender inequality and eradicating world poverty, the 17 SDGs balance the UN’s program for economic, social and environmental development.
